Reading through Pictures

I just received an email from a parent telling me how it's already been a month of school that's passed! I can't believe it's already been a month already! Ms. Darrell, who was with us on the first two days of school and who will be pushing in during literacy centers, remarked how much the class has grown in terms of following through with routines and the structures of the classroom. I'm so proud of everyone!

Everyday, we do independent reading and we recently started partner reading. At this point in the school year, the children are finding meaning in books through the pictures. We've been talking about using the pictures to help us tell a story and to retell a story. When you're at home reading with your child, have them tell you the story through the pictures.

On Friday, I recorded A.Z and I.Z during independent reading--

Reminder-there is no school this Monday, October 8th for Columbus Day. Have a fun and restful weekend! We'll have another fun week in school, our trip to the Queens County Farm will be this upcoming Thursday.
