Exploring the farm

I hope everyone is enjoying their day off today in observance of Columbus Day!

This week we learned another literacy center--Storytelling Center! Students get to use puppets and finger puppets to retell stories we have been listening to and reading. This is great practice for retelling which is a skill we will be constantly doing in kindergarten.
retelling the five little monkeys jumping on the bed
retelling the three billy goats gruff
retelling the three bears

This week we also learned another thinking map-tree map, which is a map we use to categorize things. We made a tree map of our favorite things-people, foods and toys.
In math, we created shape collages using the shapes we learned!
Some creations during language through play--
We also went to the farm this week! Thank you to the mom's of L.O, E.W, F.L, K.L, N.R, S.L and M.P for chaperoning our trip! Everyone had a lot of fun looking at the different farm animals and especially picking their own pumpkins to take home!
Thank you L.O's mom for sending me this photo!
This weekend, I ran the Staten Island half-marathon!!
