Starting off the new year

Hello families! September seems to be flying by! This month, much of what we are doing involves rules and routines and learning about each other and the school!

One of the most important structures we have been learning about is independent reading. During this time, the children have been working on building stamina for reading on their own. Reading right now looks like children holding the books properly, turning each page, looking at the pictures, talking about what is happening and beginning to share what they are thinking about.

In writing workshop, we have been learning about all the different tools for writing such as pens, pencils, crayons, markers. On Monday, students decorated their writing folders with personal photos. Last week, we created a circle map to list all the ideas for writing.

In math workshop, we started off by discovering the different manipulatives we will be using.

We have also been taking advantage of the beautiful weather and going outside to play in the playground!
